| An InterNEDI sample application : You collaborate with many people
|
| With InterNEDI you can choose to communicate with all your collaborators, a selection, or an individual, as dictated by your needs. Files (or just notes) that have been sent can be received and removed, or left there for any number of people to access. InterNEDI takes the bulletin board concept to its logical conclusion and allows you to share your data in an easy yet controlled way.
|
Here are some of the InterNEDI features that will meet your needs:
|
| Feature
| Description
| Why this is useful
|
| Multi-user
| InterNEDI can accommodate any number of users, EACH of whom can have individually tailored permissions (whether they are permitted to send files, who they send them to, and whether they are permitted to delete such files). These permissions are all controlled by a Super User. Who is permitted to see, and/or receive, and/or delete a file is decided by the sender of the file.
| Many different types and levels of user can be accommodated, all controlled by one person.
|
| Multi-group
| Thousands of groups (group size is irrelevant) can be accommodated, for situations where users are grouped more-or-less homogeneously. Group membership is decided by the Super User. There is also a Super-Group, whose members have many of the same permissions as the Super User. This could be for an IT department, for instance.
| Users save time - they can specify to send to a group, while the Super User decides who is in that group.
|
| Tailored sends to subsets of all users
| Files can be sent to a specific user, to a specific group, or to all users. There is an option to allow/disallow deletion of the file by the receiver/s.
| Mix and match for your specific application.
|
| Anonymous group
| Anonymous users (guest users) are also accommodated, and global permissions can be set for them too. Anonymous users can be included when you send to user/group/all, or you can choose to send to anonymous users only.
| If anonymous users form a part of your plan, include them. If not, exclude them completely.
|
| Too much info?
| Any file that you can see belongs to one of four categories It's either from you, or has been sent to you, to your group, or to all users. When you first log on all files are displayed, but with a single click you can reduce the number of categories displayed to any combination of these four.
| Save time - with a click or two you can filter out what is shown to just what is relevant for you.
|
| Comments and Cover Notes
| Should you wish to include info about a file you are sending, or bring something to the receiver's attention, you can include a short comment with it that is displayed in the file listing. If you need to say something more substantial, or give some other info with the file, you can use the cover note option, which is like the cover note for a fax, and is displayed to the receiver as the file begins downloading. The receiver may receive only the cover note if he wishes, and not the whole file.
| Save time - rather than fetching a file you don't need, see its description first. Also give receiver essential info as file is arriving.
|
| History Viewer : Transfers
| Should you want to keep a detailed record of your transactions, you can save all details of transfers in a history file. The History Viewer is like your email inbox, except that it can display far more detail and has selectable sorting and "hiding" features. Apart from selecting the desired file, you can also view a history of sends/receives/deletes that you have done; view to/from specific users/groups; view specific dates/date ranges as well. As you narrow down the selection to view, not only fewer items but also fewer columns are displayed in the listing as they become superfluous. By selecting sends and receives from a specific user and sorting into date order, you have an instant history of ALL transactions with that person - beats wading through email inboxes and outboxes trying to figure out who said what!
| Save huge amounts of time - with a few clicks you can filter and sort to find exactly the records you need. You will wonder why email programs don't do this !
|
| History Viewer : Confirmations
| If you request confirmation of receipt of a file, it will be displayed as you log on. Should you wish to keep a record of who has received files that you have sent, you can save these confirmations in a history file, thus building up a picture of who fetched what from you. All the sorting and "hiding" features mentioned above apply here too.
| Similar to transfer history above. Get a quick overview of who's receiving your file/s, or drill down to get specific info in a couple of clicks.
|
| Time Zones
| If you have users spread all over the world, InterNEDI keeps track of the time zone and country from which a file was sent. When displaying files, the date and time can be shown in GMT, your Local Time, or the sender's Local Time. Viewing file properties will show you the country of origin.
| See exactly who did what when, and from where, even when spread around the world.
